Stone Wyrms (Diavolos saxumvermis) are a species of silicate Devil.
.anatomy
Stone Wyrms have a serpentine body plan, reaching ~30 m in length, possessing a pair of wings, with a wing span of ~12 m. Their heads are mostly featureless, with the exception of several pairs of horns and two eyeholes. The inside of a Stone Wyrm is completely hollow, their entire bodies being an empty rock cylinder. Their entire bodies are made out stone, with variable chemical composition based on location.

Stone Wyrms are solitary creatures. They spend most of their time in the ground, using vibrations to sense fauna above them, ambushing them and dragging them below ground. They do require air to breathe, making them susceptible to flooding, which will force them to resurface, although they can syphon air through the roots of nearby plants to bypass this.
.abilities
Stone Wyrms have the ability to phase through solid ground and rock. They achieve this by binding to silicates in surrounding material to their own cells, expelling them to create thrust. This allows them to swim through the ground without producing any sort of visual disturbance.
Flight is achieved through a similar method, by using their eyeholes to create a strong vacuum right directly in front of them and expelling all the air inside their body through surrounding cell walls, they can propel themselves forward. Their wings are too small and rigid to actually be useful for flight.
Stone Wyrms have the ability to camouflage themselves by sensing the chemical composition of surrounding silicate structures. This, in turn, allows their own cells to copy the appearance of the surrounding rock. They can also collapse their own bodies to flatten themselves, further blending in with the surrounding stone.
.reproduction
Stone Wyrms reproduce asexually. They lay irregularly shaped eggs resembling local boulders, usually one per clutch, which are promptly abandoned. The egg will then gradually morph into a juvenile Stone Wyrm for the next few months, after which it will be completely independent.
.diet
Stone Wyrms can consume any organic matter. The inside of their bodies is lined with digestive cells which will absorb any nutrients that enter. Their most common way of eating is by passively moving through the ground, absorbing all of the organic compounds in the soil, or the nutrients of nearby plants, syphoning their nutrients through their root system, drying and killing the plant on the spot. They can also force food into their eyeholes, which will be broken down by the friction of moving through the ground, but that is less common.
