The Chromacy

The Chromacy is the spiritual power of City Zero, ruling alongside the Pale and Ultraviolet.

.purpose

The Chromacy’s role is to act as ruling authority over Chromaticism, its doctrine, and its followers, called chromaticans. It is their primary goal to guide their followers onto ‘the Golden Path’, a future constantly monitored with the help of the Oracle Machine.

.structure

The supreme authority and object of worship of Chromaticism is Fair Lady Chroma. She is a a messianic figure, an embodiment of the world that birthed humanity and allowed it to flourish, the one waiting for us at the beginning and end of our world and of our lives. Chromaticism believes Lady Chroma embodies Herself in certain humans when the world faces great turmoil.

The Oracle Machine is a device from ~2000 AAV, built with the intention of analysing all possible futures of humanity, thought to be capable of directly communicating with Lady Chroma. There has only ever existed one Oracle Machine, being repaired and upgraded through the ages with the latest technological advancements to improve the accuracy of its readings. The Chromacy uses the Oracle Machine to analyse the collective future of humanity, and with it follow the ‘Golden Path’ set forth by Lady Chroma.

The Chromacy is collectively administered by 10 Conductors, residing in the Choir Cathedral, being responsible for actually controlling the way Chromaticism is run and taught. Among them is one Great Conductor, an honorary position mostly, acting as the mouthpiece for the Chromacy, although having no more authority than the other conductors. They are together responsible for the interpretation of the Oracle Machine and maintaining the ‘Golden Path’. Conductors are chosen through vote, with bishops placing the name of another bishop into the Oracle Machine, which will then elect the new Conductor. The Great Conductor is chosen similarly, with Conductors voting whenever the current Great Conductor dies. Bishops are below Conductors, administering the churches as a whole, and priests are below bishops, interacting the followers directly. An overwhelming majority of City Zero is made up of chromaticans.

.conduct

Chromaticism believes the spiritual and physical worlds are the same, and when we die, we remain here to help our closest when in need, as long as our help is needed. When we’re done, we peacefully cease to be, to make room for new people. Humanity is no less divine than it is ordinary.

Chromatism doesn’t really believe in the concept of sin. Instead, every person is born pure, although immoral and impure thoughts and actions can tarnish the soul, which can be undone by righting your wrongs and doing more good than cumulative bad. Generally, actions that are in the interest of only oneself, that are solely in the interest of others, or that are detrimental to oneself or to others, are seen as wrong. There exist two unforgivable sins: living an unfulfilling life, and dying an unfulfilling death. Sinners are forever doomed to remain restless spirits, trying to leech off of the lives of the living.

Prayer is separated into quiet prayer, which we do throughout our lives whenever he hope or dream for something, and loud prayer, which is when we attempt to commune directly with Lady Chroma. After death, the body is incinerated, since we now resides within the ones closest. Marriage is an essential part of life, where two individuals join together for life, regardless of gender.

The Chromacy, and Chromaticism as a whole, has a negative bias towards Daemons, due to their existence being counter to Lady Chroma’s Golden Path, although the Chromacy does attempt to make amends without changing their doctrine. Moreover, initiation is nigh impossible, with almost all chromaticans being born one.
