Chimeras (Chimaeria class) are a class of chimeric beings, displaying traits belonging to all types of animal orders and classes. They universally have a draconic appearance, are endothermic, and are tetradactyl.
The unique characteristic of Chimeras is the presence of real, physical ‘soul’. All individuals possess a soul composed entirely of Phlogiston, physically located in and distributed through an internal complex of vessels and nodes around the entire body, similar to a lymphatic system. During gestation, the soul forms first, around which the vessels and body form.
Unlike other species, which absorb Anima directly into their cellular structure to use as life force, Chimeras first use it as fuel for their soul, with the resulting reaction and heat dispersing through their cells and animating the being. The genetic code, and to some degree the memories of Chimeras are primarily stored in the soul, only partially being found in their cells. Theoretically, the soul can be considered an independent entity, although it doesn’t display any individuality from the body or any real capacity of surviving without it, burning out immediately after death.
Chimeras can expel the Phlogiston comprising their soul from their body. This is more efficiently done from locations with higher node densities. Their tissue is completely unaffected by Phlogiston expelled by members of the same species, and is otherwise incombustible.
