Fae (Pl. Fae, Fae sapiens) are a species of humanoid Chimera.
.anatomy
Fae have a humanoid body plan, reaching ~2 m in height. They have bluish-grey skin, covered with patches of very fine scales, possess large, circular eyes, digitigrade legs, and sharp, elongated ears. Their body is hairless, with the exception of their scalp, which grows similar to humans.
.behaviour
Fae are sapient, and highly social, forming large, highly industrialised settlements. Their neural structure is wired in such a way that makes outright lying an extremely taxing task, meaning they prefer lying for omission. This also makes them extremely gullible, as they haven’t developed the mental defences for lying. The lingua franca of Fae is Faevael.
.abilities
Fae are capable of releasing Phlogiston from the pores in their skin, with the greatest control being around their hands and arms. Due to a high concentration of nodes around their scalp, their hair will also catch on fire during high activity, although this doesn’t damage it.
The greatest weakness Fae have is towards iron. Direct contact with elemental iron releases certain ions that disrupt their ability their ability to release Phlogiston, along with draining them of all energy and strength. The system returns to normal not long after contact is disrupted.
.reproduction
Fae reproduce sexually, giving birth to live young, which are nursed for ~2 years. The gestation period is ~9 months, and full sexual maturity is reached in ~18 years, after which the aging rate slows drastically. The average Fae life span is ~120 years, with only a minimal decrease in performance.
Fae are also capable of reproducing with humans. The result, indifferent of which parent is the Fae, is considered a half-breed, which is anatomically identical to a human, with the exception of a Phlogiston soul, slow aging and higher muscle strength. Half-breed can only be born between a Fae and a human, or between a Fae and a half-breed, as relations between a human and half-breed will result in a regular human. If the human is a Hybrid, the result will always be a half-breed/human.

Fae are omnivorous, with a slightly higher metabolism than humans.
